PPL Only Applies to Light Aircraft?
« on: April 17, 2017, 11:46:12 AM »
I couldn't find an appropriate section of this forum for this question so I hope it's ok here

PPL pilots generally fly aeroplanes such as Cessna's & Pipers

The actor John Travolta owns and flies a Boeing 747 I believe

So my question is thus:

Does a PPL allow a person to pilot any size aeroplane or only light aircraft? Would John Travolta have to hold more than a PPL?

Thanks

Nick Attwell

Hi Nick,

In Spain, you can only fly single engine aircraft if you just have your PPL. Then, there are some other "courses" such the ME (Multi Engine) or MC (Multi Crew).

You can get your PPL(A)(ME) and fly any aircraft actually. You will just have to pass some type training.
