Messy night at KLAX
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:04:31 AM »
I was watching the Cargo City south complex webcam but not listening to ATC.  Aircraft were landing on 7R.  Around 2340 hrs local time during heavy rain I saw a missed approach.  I immediately brought up tower freq and the winds were 200/11 gusting to 22.  There was missed after missed.  One Compass fight asked to divert to Las Vegas but then changed his mind to ONT.  ATC decided to turn the airport around.  I was listening to tower and departure.  They were very busy.  It sounded like organized chaos but very professional.  Lots of flights put into holding patterns until they got the runways switched around.  Flightradar24 looked like a bowl of spaghetti.

That always makes for interesting listening. The pilots were probably not enjoying it quite as much

Can you give me a link to the cam. I'd like to check it out.... Thank you & Merry Christmas

http://www.cargolaw.com/lax_webcam2.html and http://www.cargolaw.com/lax_webcam.html.  The second camera is usually the best however since they started the construction to 25R it will park on the construction and you can't see any planes.  Camera #2 (Across the Pacific) is your best bet until they finish up sometime in March.  Unfortunately the cameras do not stay live very long.  They must be refreshed a lot for long term viewing.
