Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport reopens after threat
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Roadways leading into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport have reopened after an investigation that has caused major delays and backed up traffic for miles early Thursday morning.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said deputies received information around 1:10 a.m. of “suspicious wires found in a vehicle parked on the upper level of the airport.”
The area was evacuated, and traffic in and out of the airport was shut down.
BSO’s bomb squad ultimately determined that the wires were not a threat, giving an all-clear shortly after 7 a.m.
“Operations at FLL are gradually returning to normal following an earlier security incident outside of Terminals 2 and 3,” the airport said. “Please be patient as FLL employees, including TSA and CBP personnel, are allowed back into the airport to resume operations.”
