Curious what others think.  This issue does seem to be getting worse.  Or are we just hearing about it more?

I think that they should just let a bunch of goose hunters come in and take all they want! I mean, keeping the birds in a sanctuary is not going to solve the problem; the birds will keep multiplying. I think that this is sort of like trees. The tree huggers want to avoid cutting trees because they want to save the forests. But by not cutting them, they are doing more damage to the forests. So, by not getting rid of the birds, there are human lives at stake or damage to airline equipment.

As to what to do with them....well, I think that there are plenty of hunters out there who might want to have a goose or two so open it up to hunting! Or maybe you could sell them to a restaurant or something like that. Just my opinion  :-)

They want to find a unofficial way to get rid of these geese, ask (or better tell) some farmers to solve it for you, they only have to hear it half......

Honey put on the stove    hahahaha.,. (that is how we in the Netherlands do it, not the official way, but the town (city) council is not allowed to shoot these, only taking eggs every year, but when there are already too many geese, just (half wisper) to a farmer or so....)

I think we're just hearing about it more.  But anyway, I don't think hunting them help.  I'm all for hunting.  But there are about 5 million more where they came from that will move in as soon as you kill the ones that are there.  It's futile.

One major problem is when someone calls out for deceases!
That way the geese have be get rid of and can't be your meal anymore.

That happened with rabbits a while ago ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tularemia ), too many rabbits at a too small area. but if there are 5 million geese or so they have some time to expand before nature will take action..

It would be a waste of course, if you can grill, cook or barbecue them.

Here's a story about overpopulation of the Canada geese http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.2307/3802219?uid=3738736&uid=2&uid=4&sid=21100766738081

And here's information about known deceases for geese http://www.fao.org/DOCREP/005/Y4359E/y4359e0g.htm
