Title: Arsenal of Democracy Flyover
Post by: tom247 on May 05, 2015, 04:09:26 PM
This Friday, May 8, dozens of WWII aircraft will be flying over Washington, DC to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE day. The first formation is due over the Lincoln Memorial around 12:10 EDT. The airlines operating out of KDCA have made a window in their schedules for it, along with the cooperation of many groups and agencies.

Does anyone know if there is a LiveATC channel that would be able to pick up any CTAF or other air to air traffic that these formations will generate?  How cool would that be to listen to?

It would be very cool but I believe the War Bird Radio broadcast will contain some of that - though I am not sure.

We have not been able to deploy a special receiver for this since we're not aware of what frequencies will be used.

Due to the concerns of the powers that be in DC, the frequencies are being kept close to the vest. It is ironic that the gyrocopter mailman is due back in court Friday afternoon.
