KEY WEST, Fla. (CBS12) — A sightseeing helicopter crashed in the ocean near Key West.
The crash happened Monday night, not far from Key West International Airport.
Photos from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office show the helicopter diving into the water with three people on board.
All three people on board went to Lower Keys Medical Center with minor injuries.
Peter Closi, the president of Air Adventures which is the company that owns the sightseeing helicopter, says it took off from the airport, but shortly after take off the pilot felt vibrations and decided to turn back.
Emergency pop-out floats were deployed, Closi, and the aircraft was forced to land on the water.
The crash is under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
