New York (Knewz) — A small plane in California had to enact a crash landing into San Diego Bay after failing to land safely.

The plane, a Learjet 35, crashed near Naval Air Station North Island on Sept. The two passengers were taken to the hospital after a small plan in California landed in the bay. Neither suffered any injuries.

The civilian aircraft came to rest on the San Diego Bay shoreline at the end of the water.
The crash happened at a little after 1 p.m. PT, CBS 8 reported.

According to CBS 8, FlightAware, a flight tracking website, the Learjet 35 took off from Halsey Field on North Island at a little before 12:30 p.m. PT before returning there a little after 1 p.m. PT.

Kevin Dixon, base spokesman for the Naval Air Station North Island, told CBS 8 that a plane in California landed on a thin, sandy beach, and it appeared to have taken on minor damage in the crash.
