The civilian aircraft came to rest on the San Diego Bay shoreline at the end of the water.
The crash happened at a little after 1 p.m. PT, CBS 8 reported.

According to CBS 8, FlightAware, a flight tracking website, the Learjet 35 took off from Halsey Field on North Island at a little before 12:30 p.m. PT before returning there a little after 1 p.m. PT.
