A sighting said to be a man in a jetpack flying some 5,000 feet in the sky 15 miles away from Los Angeles International Airport occurred Wednesday.

There were a number of similar sightings in 2020 that sparked rumors about the mysterious man, dubbed "jetpack man," and prompted an FBI investigation into the phenomenon.

A Boeing 747 pilot reported seeing an object that might have resembled a jet pack 15 miles east of LAX at 5,000 feet altitude,” said a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, air traffic controllers alerted other pilots in the vicinity.”

A conversation between a pilot and air traffic personnel about the sighting was recorded.

"Skywest 3626, use caution. The jet man is back. Let me know if you see him," Air traffic control told the pilot. "Skywest 3626, did you see the UFO?"

"We were looking, but we did not see Iron Man," the pilot replied.A jetpack man was previously spotted at a training area near Palos Verdes at about 3,000 feet. Weeks later, he was spotted again near the Los Angeles International Airport, flying at roughly 6,000 feet.

The sightings are unlikely to be a man with a jetpack thousands of feet in the air, according to an FBI report.
