Title: N748NP Boca Raton Emergency Landing
Post by: captkel on March 01, 2015, 11:53:04 AM
A Piper Navajo N748NP made an emergency landing on a canal bank in Boca Raton, Florida.
I heard this happen LIVE on Saturday February 28, 2015 on the Miami Approach 119.7 feed, however it wasn't captured in the archives so I can't share it. Here is what I remember: The pilot said he was having problems with one engine, he was asked if he wanted to declare an emergency, he said no. He was also asked if he needed emergency vehicles standing by at the Pompano Beach airport, he said no again. A short time later he said he was not going to make it to the airport. He was told how far away the Pompano Beach (PMP), Ft. Lauderdale Executive (FXE), and Boca Raton (BCT) airports were. The Florida Turnpike and Sawgrass Expressway locations were pointed out to him as possible landing sites. That was all I remember hearing.
