GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
A small plane on a training flight made an emergency landing on I-75 near Paynes Prairie Preserve after the engine failed.

No one was injured when the Cessna 152 touched down on the northbound lanes around noon.

Patrick Murphy, general manager of Sunrise Aviation in Ormond Beach, said one of their instructors and a student was on board the plane. He said the student made the routine flight from Volusia County, to Gainesville then Williston before heading back. That's when, Murphy said, the instructor took over and tried to maneuever the plane back to Gainesville Regional Airport. Murphy said the engine failed and the instructor decided to land the plane on the highway.
