Title: You only get one chance
Post by: Cleared2Land on August 28, 2007, 09:19:41 PM
A Lufthansa pilot doesn't act fast enough, misses the proposed turn, and gets a dismissive "forget it" from JFK Tower.

More than likely, the aircraft was approaching the intersection and when he replied say again, he was probably passing it and that's the reason for the comment. It happens all the time and is completely innocent but you make it sound vindictive.
You can't always understand everything that is going on by listening to a frequency. You're not there to see what the pilots and controllers are seeing and you don't know what's going on behind them. Don't be so quick to judge.

I agree with Suke,

This really is a non incident, not worthy of a clip.

"is completely innocent but you make it sound vindictive"

Not at all, I just think it's a funny example of New York humor. I enjoy listening to JFK Tower in particular because the controllers are so genuine and unpretentious (that's not to say that other towers aren't, mind you!); a lot of their comments sound like something out of Seinfeld, like this one was. There was no malice in what he said at all. But the comic timing of the clip was what amused me.
