Yet another Cactus mess up, this time at SAN
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:15:07 AM »
Maybe we should have one big thread of these clips...
Also, this is my first time posting a clip.  Thank you, to who ever is running the SAN feed.  I've been waiting for that for a long time.  I like far enough away from the airport that I can't hear the tower at all.

I'd assume it's more likely to be the West pilots that will have reactions like this.

To the defense of both, as a controller we look at a USAIR paint scheme, and USA identifier have to call it cactus, but for traffic calls and so on its a usa air. To pilots defense so im told their paper work all says us air.... There is no end to this for the foreseeable future.

It must just be me then, or those who work at KLAS. It's easy there just to call them all Cactus, because during their night ops when most of AWE/USA's flights go out, they had to use both, even when the Cactus flights were in AWE colours.

How is it coming along at PHX?

BL.

...until their ICAO code changes to AWE on 9/19. That will help significantly.

WE only hope, its been a week in a half how many hours and the pilots still cant figure out who they are. im going to refer to them as uscactusair. Eagle flight just recently went to using 4 digit numbers thats another mess... Got to love whoever is changing this stuff.

The code change will certainly alert ATC in Europe... hope it doesn't confuse too many.
