Two overnight flights, CMP808 (Copa) and AVA064 (Avianca), both flying northbound enroute to New York's JFK, reported seeing a group of bright lights in front of them and at a higher altitude at around 02:17 eastern time. The Copa flight was further south than the Avianca flight and because of this, the audio is not as good compared to the Avianca flight. The Copa flight was first to notice the lights and a few minutes later the Aviance flight confirmed seeing these lights also. Both flights were just off the Virginia coast when these lights were spotted. There appears to be no other mention of these lights on any other nearby sector frequency and a southbound Galapagos flight that had just departed JFK made no mention of these lights (probably because the lights were behind them and out of view). A northbound Virgin Cargo flight ahead of the Copa and Aviance flights also did not mention seeing any lights. Hmmmm........
