US Airways 1939 - Last Flight (KSFO-KPHL)
« on: October 17, 2015, 04:43:45 AM »
US Airways Flight 1939 departed SFO for PHL last night (10/16/15) as the last US Airways flight. The flight started using call sign "All American 1939." The Norcal approach controller switched the call sign to US Airways 1939, and this was used in communication with Philly approach and tower.

"All American" was the name of the airline when it was founded (in 1937), and the airline commenced operations in 1939 (the flight number). This recording contains the last US Airways departure from KSFO and the arrival into KPHL, which was part of a day-long tour from KPHL-KCLT-KPHX-KSFO-KPHL.

The recording has SFO clearance, ground, tower, Norcal departure, then Philly approach, PHL tower, and finally, ground (with extraneous communication and silence trimmed).

Bocon13--thank you for putting the audio together.  It is great!!  Would you be ok if I posted it on my FB page?  I have friends in PIT that might like to listen to it.

Thank you also for taking the time to put all of this together for those of us who couldn't listen as it was happening!
