Yes, from what one can tell from a series of radio transmissions, a very well executed series of decisions and actions.  Super job by the pilots, Westchester Tower, New York TRACON, and Kennedy Tower.

Silence and other aircraft communications removed.  Shorted from 45min to 5min.

I don't mean to step on your toes Dave, but this is for those who want to hear just Acey 4951.

Could also be one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_DA42_Twin_Star

The original question was who is Twin Star, not What is a Twinstar. So the callsign Twinstar cannot be a Diamond then I guess.

Although interesting to note that the Diamond 42's original diesel engines were based on production turbodiesel engines being used by Daimler Mercedes.

To answer WHO is TwinStar, it could very easily be a DA-42. When I'm getting flight following with NY Approach, I'll be referred to as "Skyhawk 123" when flying a Cessna Skyhawk 172. That could certainly get confusing with Daimler Chrysler Aviation, but likely they're inbound on an IFR flight plan, and unlikely there would also be a DA-42 near the ILS approach at the same time. Still, it's ambiguous.

Nice job Dave!

Below is the Avherald article, including a vid of the landing from inside the aircraft. Great job by the crew! ATC and PAX remained calm as well! Nice job by all!

A couple days later, another CRJ had the same issue, only on the other side. Skywest CRJ-200 N498CA landed at KMKE without it's left main gear extended on Sept. 28th.

Thanks for breaking that down. I agree 45min was a lot!
