quiet an interesting clip where a vehicle reportedly burst through an airport fence and then drove all over the runways resulting in quite a few go-arounds and moving of airplanes quickly. I would almost say that this is one of the most interesting clips I have ever heard!
news article here though they are wrong in saying that the vehicle was not on any runways!

clips came from the PHL tower 1600-1630Z and 1630-1700Z sections
edited for silence and unrelated traffic

Superb work by the air traffic controllers in Philly Tower! And by the security crews on the ground apprehending this person.

here is the Ground audio...watch out, pretty funny at times!

I work at PHL, but wasn't there today. A local news channel provided the audio, gave the due credit to LiveATC.net

Great recordings!
Amazing to think all this happened while I was freezing my butt off at YYZ. Watching the Boeing 787 land of course :-D

Wasn't it PHL that just had a field incursion a month or so ago?

-

I saw this on on youtube this morning after being told to go look it up. One of the comments on the video was saying as to how the controller was freaking out and did not have the control of the situation. I dont know how you would take more control of this lol

the controllers had plenty of control! I really **dislike** people who have no idea of piloting or airport operations and write stuff like they know everything! Even if the controller was freaking out, wouldn't you when you see something on the runway that isn't supposed to be there and is about to become like a pancake with an airplane on short final?
-
I wouldn't say he freaked out. It was just a nervous situation. For all he knew the guy was a suicide bomber looking for a target. I thought he handled it very professionally.

Both controllers (departure and arrival) were awarded the 2013 Archie League Award

Thanks for reminding us of the Archie League Awards. It just goes to show how these everyday folks play such a critical role in keeping flying safe.
When the stuff is going through the fan (or it just stops) these art the folks that get us through.

It was a UDO (Unidentified Driving Object)

Having just listened to the audio myself, I too didn't sense any kind of "freaking out" on the part of the controllers. God knows what would have happened if they weren't there to take full control of the situation. And what would possess the media to say that this vehicle never went on any runways? I thought it was quite obvious to anyone that listened to the audio that it did. I guess that's why I never watch the news anymore...
Cudos to the PHL controllers 8-)
