Title: Unauthorized takeoff at SEA - Stolen Alaskan Airlines D800
Post by: Lenny_Pridatko on August 11, 2018, 04:38:59 AM
Alaska/Horizon Airlines D800 took off from RWY 16C at 2:35UTC. The mechanic definitely went out with a bang.

Audio of the intercept and after the crash. No audio with the stolen plane is included in this.

Richard Russell, despite the fact that he stole a plane, seemed like a pretty cool guy:

I went through all of the KSEA feed archives from 0230-0330, and here is everything I could find about this incident.  It starts with the takeoff, through the ground stop release an hour later, but only the audio directly related to the flight.  Some of it is pretty scratchy, but I couldn't find it anywhere else, so I kept it.  For some reason, the KSEA Departure feed only has the pilot but not the controller from 0230 - 0300, but then goes silent for half an hour at 0300, so everything after that was cut from the original post from somewhere else.  Unfortunately, that feed was a combination of multiple frequencies, so large parts of the conversation was stepped on and are missing.  I cut out everything not related to this incident.

If anyone finds any more of the conversation between the pilot and ATC anywhere, please post it.

I found some more audio, both sides, in a different YouTube post, so I inserted that into the posted file in sequence.  Some of it replaced the scratchy audio, but much of it was new.
