UAL16 Lightning Strike
« on: January 04, 2025, 16:46:34 UTC »
On December 31, UAL16, a Boeing 767-300 enroute to London Heathrow, was cruising at FL330 when the crew reported being struck by lightning.  They decided to divert to Boston and landed there safely about 45 minutes later.  Emergency crews met them as they landed and followed them to the gate to do a thermal scan of their brakes.  The flight crew did not declare an emergency; the ZBW controller declared an emergency on their behalf.
