Title: UAE3802 at JFK
Post by: tyketto on August 04, 2008, 02:02:23 PM
With Airventure happening at OSH and earthquakes in SoCal, we totally missed a big arrival, and I mean BIG.

If you look through the archive for JFK on 8/1/08 at approx. 4:20pm local (2020Z) to 4:40pm local (2040Z) and 9:20pm (0120Z) in the 8/2/08 archive, you'll notice the arrival of UAE3801 and departure of UAE3802. That would be Emirates now daily service of the A388 into JFK. It should be an interesting listen (can't get to it myself at work yet), but you should get a good idea on how the rest of the US airports will handle it.

The Age in Melbourne also has a good article on it. Enjoy.

It was neat watching that thing come in.  I had a tranceiver with me so I was able to catch all of the transmissions.  Those N90 guys sure do love to say "SUPER."

Best,

:-)  Nice work.  While we have you here, my sincere thanks for all your great work.  I fly the airspace frequently and always have great service throughout N90.  It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Best,

Thanks Jason. I'm also the controller who worked that COA emergency on 7/28. Never knew about this site until someone at work told me about it. Pretty interesting!

Welcome to the site!  It's great to have people like you on here, you are a great resource.  I always appreciate the great service at N90, whether I'm in the 172 or the jet.  :-)

Jason-

No I was on 22L final.  Rober switched him to 32.4 for the final vectors.

Ah, very nice.  The guy working Rober sure had a lot of excitement for Emirates Thirty One Oh Eight Suuuuuuuuper.  I tuned into final just as he intercepted the final approach course outside RUSHY and heard the approach clearance and handoff to tower, so I must have heard you.  Nice work.

Best,

The funny thing is, outside of the huge number of listeners the JFK feed usually gets, I wouldn't be surprised to see a surge of people tuning into the feed around the time UAE3802 and UAE3801 arrive and depart daily. IIRC, this is supposed to be a daily run for them..
