I live about 4 miles from where the accident happened. I was on a bus on my way back from the PGA tournament and saw smoke over the horizon and thought it was a house fire, but I was wrong. RIP to the pilot and passenger.

The plane was a Beech E18S N3038C. I found a photo on airliners.net @ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Beech-E18S/0897614/L/ (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Beech-E18S/0897614/L/).
The archvie file for KFCM, http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kfcm/KFCM-Aug-12-2009-1630Z.mp3 (http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kfcm/KFCM-Aug-12-2009-1630Z.mp3), has the tower providing takeoff clearance at 3:25. The tower states they are not picking up the transponder at 7:31. The helicopter 69G, reports the fire to the tower @ 8:30. I did not hear any audio from the Beech.
My condolences and prayers to the families of the pilot and passenger.
