Title: Two American F-15 Eagles Land @ CYYT; One Emergency With Hydraulic Issue
Post by: kylepetten on May 25, 2011, 09:49:25 PM
Two American F-15 Eagles landed at St. John's International Airport, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. One reported a hydraulic issue and requested priority landing at CYYT. Landing went without incident. First part of the recording you can only hear the controller. The jets were probably on UHF or a different freq. Once they contact tower, pilots can be heard.

www.vocm.com (a local radio station) reported:

An emergency landing of not one, but two aircraft at St. John's International Airport this afternoon. Two U.S. F-15 Striking Eagle fighter jets made an unscheduled landing at about 2:30 p.m. The landing was accomplished without incident, but emergency vehicles were on standby.  One of the pilots told VOCM News that the problem was a minor hydraulic issue. The Americans are from a base in the United Kingdom. There were 4 people traveling in both jets. The pilot says they anticipate to be in St. John's for a couple of days until the problem is fixed.

The controllers and pilots alike make it all sound so routine.  Professionals at work.
