Title: Super Bowl Action
Post by: silagi on February 02, 2016, 08:47:28 PM
Even though the Super Bowl is still 5 days away, the area around Levi Stadium in Santa Clara is already under heavy security both on the ground and in the air. Today I caught an attempted drone intercept by Homeland Security near the stadium.

The recording is off on my KNUQ (Moffett Federal Airfield) which is located right next to Levi stadium and it is where all of the law enforcement air assets are being based for the Super Bowl.  Activity really started to pick up today.  I also added the frequency of 124.3 for the Super Bowl.  This frequency is normally used as an air to air coordination channel by news helicopters in the Bay Area.  It now being used as an air to air coordination channel over the stadium.  This is also the frequency that this incident was recorded on.

With all the NOTAMS in place, every NorCal feed except for KSMF should be busy for the Super Bowl. From the other thread, there were 13 airports that are using a reservation system (read: slots) for arrivals. Only 2 of the airports listed to not have feeds, so all of them should be very busy.

Can we send up a drone to have it take pictures of the FAA shooting down a drone that some fool launched inside the TFR?  :-P

Anyone could help me with the callsigns on this, please?

I hear

OMAHA32: I guess this is a helicopter Sikorsky maybe?
LINCOLN99: Could this be a carrier? USS Abraham Lincoln?
MARS61 and MARS60: Maybe fighters? If so, what type?

Thanks! :-)
