Some more EGPH audio - By Request!
« on: March 03, 2009, 05:04:55 PM »
As requested by "alreet-bald", here is another hours worth of normal ops audio from Edinburgh today.

Nothing special, but something a bit different. Listen out for a Loganair SAAB 340B making a couple of deliberate mistakes about half way through! Shiny gold star to the first to spot them!

Recorded on HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop running Vista and Audacity and a Uniden Bearcat UBC-92XLT.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments etc!

Great stuff -  I'm 20 miles away. You can get a live stream on Globaltuners.com.

Of Cumbernauld or Edinburgh?

Edit: Had a look and he's right - You can tune to Edinburgh on Global Tuners if you're interested. For reference, Tower is 118.700Mhz, Approach is 121.200Mhz and Ground is 121.750Mhz. They occasionally use Director too but I can't remember it's frequency. Kind of makes my clip posting a bit pointless now ;) Good luck with the PPL by the way!

Thanks - I'll fill in the ones you missed  :-P

Director - 128.975
ATIS - 131.350

You can also use Global Tuners to get Gatwick, Heathrow and RAF Northolt on the 'London East' node. That's the only UK ATC links on the web, as far as I know. EGPF.com used to host one, but NATS asked them to close it due to that stupid law from 1947.

I knew about the Glasgow feed and used to listen regularly - Such a shame that went down. Of course ATIS, How could I forget! Couldn't for the life of me remember director though! :D

All the best

Side note - Does anyone know why the squawks from the aircraft (ACARS I think - The data bursts anyway) keep cutting in throughout my clip? Is it just proximity to the aircraft causing it? (I'm parked literally at the perimeter fence when I record these.) Also, does anyone know what it is Midland 2HY asks aproach for just after 6.30 into the clip? Sounds like she says they'd like to "Self assist"....Anyone any ideas what that means?

That could be it. Whatever it was they asked for, the controller sounded a little taken aback. Oh, and the deliberate mistake by the Loganair was that they kept calling Edinburgh Tower and Ground Glasgow - Until corrected by Ground! They were on a positioning flight for aircraft tests.
