LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A small plane made an emergency landing on southbound Kyle Canyon Road near U.S. 95 on Saturday morning, according to Nevada State Police and RTC.
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol received a call at 11:21 a.m. regarding the emergency landing of a small passenger plane near State Route 157, also known as Kyle Canyon Road, in the Mount Charleston recreational area.
The plane, a four-seat Cessna 172, was piloted by two individuals.
According to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), two people were on board when the plane made an emergency landing around 11:15 a.m. after the pilot reported that the engine had lost power.
The plane departed from North Las Vegas Airport, officials say. Authorities reported no injuries or damage to the roadway due to the landing.
The Federal Aviation Administration has permitted the pilots to repair the plane on-site, with plans to take off from the same location.
The exact timing for the repairs and subsequent takeoff remains unknown.
Before the plane takes off, the Nevada Highway Patrol will temporarily close State Route 157 for approximately 15 minutes.
The FAA will conduct an investigation.
