Title: Question - Etihad 151 go-around ?
Post by: ORD Don on August 23, 2012, 11:56:22 AM

I saw this Etihad 777 make a go-around yesterday and pulled up the archive, just out of curiosity, to find out why.

Can anyone understand what he is saying ?  I couldn't make it out....       Thanks...

Going around - we're not steady

He actually said "We are not Stable".

Company operating procedures require a "stable" approach below a certain altitude (e.g. 1000 feet). Any uncontrolled deviations beyond specified thresholds to parameters such as airspeed, vertical speed, pitch angle, glide slope displacement, etc.  require the pilots to "go around" and execute the approach again.

No big deal.

It sounded like "not stable",  but I had never heard that and had no idea what it meant.

Thank you for the info.  I appreciate it....
