Pope diverted/delayed?
« on: September 22, 2015, 07:59:37 PM »
Looking for some audio to back up a story I just read about the Pope being intentionally delayed mid flight.  I'm not sure which facility would've been handling the flight though so I'm not sure where to look for it.

Looks to me by the log the plane's first turn happened at about 18:40Z (2:40pm local)

Yes that feed covers 120.75 but in looking at the flights track, the hold occurred near North Carolina. Usually, that feed only picks up flights at the northern limit of the 120.75 sector. I haven't checked it myself, but I don't think it's likely that anything was caught on that feed. You might want to check the ZDC ILM feed (124.025). That one is 2 sectors south of 120.75.  Maybe there's something there...

The GPS coordinates put the turn somewhere NE of the ISO VOR, so that'd be ZDC. At FL390, JetScan1's map from this thread suggests it would be on frequency 118.82

Appears to be holding at the Kinston VOR (ISO), so I concur it should be on 118.82. I'm not aware of any feeds that cover this frequency. I checked the 124.02 archive (the sector directly underneath 118.82) and 118.82 is not covered on that radio.
