Police and DAL Tower went Drone Hunting

Someone decided to fly a drone in the approach corridor for KDAL and effectively shut a runway down to arrivals.

Excellent post!

The callsign of the chopper is AIR 1, right? What was their base field?

It's a Dallas Police helicopter so more than likely they have a private helipad where their equipment is based.
More interesting recently they had a bird strike and a broken windshield with injury to the pilot.

That they are going by "Air 1" would be a local understanding with the Dallas controllers.

This looks to be it http://www.airnav.com/airport/TX53

Exactly, they requested to head back to Exec when they finished the task. So that's their helipad for sure.

I read something about the bird strike before. Courious!!
