WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A man flying a small plane made an emergency landing about two miles southwest of the Purdue Airport about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.

No one was injured in the emergency landing, and the pilot, Travis Pulley, 41, of New Richmond, was the only person in the plane, which was a 1978 Beechcraft Sierra.

Pulley reported the plane had engine problems and set it down in the fields near Tippecanoe County Roads 200 South and 500 West, according to the sheriff's office.

The news release indicates they do not know what caused the plane to malfunction.

The investigation was turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration, according to the sheriff's office.
