Near Miss at DCA on 5/24

Audio is clipped from KDCA Feed, only communication between Brickyard 3281 and Muscle 9. In case anyone missed this on the news, here is what the USA Today reported: http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayinthesky/2013/05/28/jetliner-military-helicopter-almost-collide-national-airport/2366139/

Federal officials are investigating the near collision of a commercial jetliner and a military helicopter at Washington Reagan National Airport on Friday.
National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Eric Weiss told the Associated Press that the two aircraft were flying at the same altitude and were only 950 feet apart from each other laterally. An alert went off in the jet's cockpit and the pilot aborted the landing, circled around and landed safely.
The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown told CNN that the jetliner, Republic Airlines Flight 3281, had originated in Columbus, Ohio, and was northbound descending on Runway 33 at about 4 p.m. Friday.
The helicopter was southbound and was on the east side of the Potomac River.
The two came closest about one mile south of the airport, Brown told CNN.
Brown said the helicopter is based at Joint Base Andrews just outside of Washington. The helicopter also landed safely.

I like the way the pilot calmly explains his reason for the go around.

I wonder if anyone familiar with the DCA operations could explain what happened.
