Title: N13622 Crash in East Haven, CT
Post by: Rick108 on August 09, 2013, 02:32:46 PM
Here is the audio I pulled from the New Haven crash a couple of hours ago.  Several reports of deviations for weather in the area, but nothing else stands out.

My sympathies to the victims of this tragedy.  Very sad...

Sounds to me that right around the 1:56 mark I hear "622!".  May have been an attempt to report a problem.  Sadly, the transmission ends with nothing further.

Very sad indeed. The aircraft struck a house and apparently also killed two children (age 1 and 13) living there.

Sounds like his last xmsn was a panic call. Obviously something happened very abruptly after his previous call just seconds before, where he reported downwind and airport in sight.
Four fatalities known so far.

Yes that last 622 was a very rushed call. I knew this exceptional man, and he was a skilled and careful pilot. That rush in his voice to me indicates something went wrong as well. I can't tell from it if it is with the aircraft or something with him.

I heard about this on the news. What type of plane was it? Do you know? All I know is that it was a double prop.
