JFK Ground does an 'oops'
« on: November 04, 2007, 08:31:27 PM »
Busy controller directs two Airbus 320s in opposite directions on the same taxiway, Alpha. NWA735 and JetBlue173 involved.
I posted just a short bit of the initial activity. More can be heard from the archive of 11/04/07 on the 2230Z-2300Z clip.

Lucky it was Ground and not Approach - that could have taken more than a couple of tugs to sort out!

Better a mistake on the ground than in the air.

If I'm thinking of the same clip that you are, saying that the controller kept "sorta" calm would be a bit of an exaggeration.  That would be "JFK Arnie" having a rough day.  I can post the clip if you want, but it's already posted several times around the forums

Ask and you shall receive.  Hopefully we're talking about the same clip.

@Cessna157, yes, this is indeed the same clip!! Thank you so much!!:-D You made my day!

Somehow, I am amazed that ATC always seems underrated so much. These guys at JFK, LAX, SFO, and many others are golden!! It's an world upside down... that's just my opinion.
@cessna157, thanks again!!

it is good that he admited that he made a mistake.

i've learned that is the best thing to do. is to ADMIT when i've made a mistake..rather then try to blame the pilots.

good clip though!

(oh..and the old JFK ground clip is priceless...that controller was SO down the tubes lol)

Heh heh, not me!  If someone says "Hey, did that RJ just land on the taxiway?"  I'd jump right in and say "Tower told me to!"
