More EGPH (Edinburgh, Scotland) audio
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:35:18 PM »
The last clip of normal EDI ops I posted got a fairly positive response, so today I headed to the airport to watch the world go by and took the laptop and scanner down and recorded an hour of normal ops. Fairly busy today, this clip is with only longer silences removed for ease of listening. I was having antenna issues as the BNC plug on my mag-mount is a bit dodgy and you can occasionally hear the bad connection but the clip is more than listenable. Hope someone out there enjoys it!

If you're wondering what the little recording in the ATIS says (And it took me a while to figure it out and I'm from here!) it says "Runway 24 is wet with de-icing fluid". It was a cold day and it's to get worse - Heavy snow forecast tonight!

Helimed 2 that you'll hear throughout the clip is an air ambulance flight - He reports over Arthur's Seat which is a large hill in the centre of Edinburgh, and that he's letting down at ERI (Edinburgh Royal Infirmary hospital.)

All Jersey callsigns are DHC Dash 8, all Easy callsigns are A319s, all Shuttle callsigns are 319/320 except one which was a 734. All Cityireland and Flyer callsigns are Avro RJ. Midland are Airbus 319/20 and a couple of them were Emb145 (Midland 604 that took the Surveillance Radar Approach was a 145). You know, just for your info!

That's what we call the QNH over here - It's the altimeter setting. Over here we use millibars as the unit of measurement but in north america you use inches of mercury. More information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QNH

Hi there. Sorry it took so long to get back to you - Been on holidays somewhere warm!  :-D

Its no problem for me to record more - I'll try and get one tomorrow. I have a new job now though so don't get the time to head across to Edinburgh and record like I used to when I worked in the city, but whenever I can I'll try!

All the best.
