Title: Military activity at JFK today (18/09)
Post by: tremendous on September 18, 2009, 11:44:30 AM
Heard a couple of night hawk callsigns (helicopters) as well as a Reach callsign (AMC). Anything happening in NYC area today or just some random stuff passing through?

One of the night hawk call signs was asked to hover for a moment while ATC confirmed the landing spot was clear and ok, but he landed anyway, which seemed to illicit a resigned groan from the guy in the tower. I also think he said something like 'yeah there are people standing around there...'

There have been a number of exec aircraft landing today too with the usual 'Follow the vehicle with the flashing lights' as escort. Alas, yep I can only imagine it's prepping for the U.N. General Assembly. Should come for some interesting listening.

Yes, it's that time of year when all the poor countries of the year spend what money they have to treat their leaders right! They will be in NYC for a couple of weeks.

Sounds interesting.  If you have a clip I'd love to hear it
