BUR Southwest Airlines Skids off runway
« on: December 06, 2018, 02:06:58 PM »

Happy thursday everyone.
It is really raining here in southern California and a southwest plane Skidded off the runway at Burbank Airport almost an hour ago. If anyone has any act audio from this it would be interesting to hear. In addition to posting it here it might be a good Idea to send your clip to VASAviation1@gmail.com

Have a good day

Ugh. winds out of the north, Runway 8 closed due to this. EMAS to the rescue! However, ILS 8 circle to 33 in use, so now everyone is landing to the north. Thankfully this wouldn't be a repeat of the incident they had there when they skidded off and stopped less than 30 feet short of a gas station. I'm pretty sure a clip will turn up shortly.

EDIT: in fact, it's already squawked over at FlightAware. SWA278. Time frame puts it at before 9am PT, so the 1600-1700Z archive should have the entire thing.

1 prior plane did a missed, another prior reported braking action good, heavy precip reported directly over the airport by tower, pilot (sarcastically) says "perfect".
