Snowstorm makes things hectic at O'Hare
« on: February 25, 2010, 07:30:54 UTC »
2/25/2010, 0430Z+, KORD Tower:

A snow squall line came through and kept things quite active for a while.
One go-around, one lightning strike, and some very busy controllers.

I live about 10 miles away and for about 90 minutes it was snowing more heavily than I have ever seen it around here.

Yea, the snow was coming down pretty good last night.  A little lightning and thunder was thrown in too.

My mom was connecting that night in ORD. Arrived from PHX on a Cactus flight, transferred over to the last United Ex. flight to GRR, didn't leave until past midnight....

They were landing runways 32? I've never heard them do that before. I've always heard either landing west or landing east, with the occasional 14L and 14R days.
