KOAK - Piper mistakenly lands on Taxiway

Newbe here, but listening to the recording it sounded like that aircraft maybe had a instructor on board due to the different voices and all. What is the procedure for a pilot deviation for student with an instructor on board?

If there was an instructor/student situation I believe the CFI would be Responsible as pilot in command.

I'm trying to figure out where this guy actually landed.  There aren't many taxiways that are lined up with 28.  Then the tower directs him onto B to cross 28L and R then left on Charlie.  That indicates he landed south of 28L.  Did he land on W?

Maybe landed W and exited right onto V. Then it would have been as Oakland transmitted, 'left turn onto B' (to taxi northeast) and cross 28L,28R.

Yeah, I think you guys are right.  It sounds as if they mistook 30 and taxiway W as the parallel "runways" 28L and 28R. A right turn on V would have been consistent with everything else on the recording.

Any idea what the conditions were at the time of landing?  Curious what the visibility was & what time of day it was.  

Just hard to imagine this happening especially since the taxiway isn't even parallel to the runway they were cleared for -- and even worse if that was indeed an instructor on board (I couldn't tell for sure but it sounded like it may have been, at least towards the end of the recording).

Man, that'd be hard to live down, but am seriously not sure how a mistake like that happens outside of (very) adverse conditions/visibility or similar.

I suppose that's not the quietest airspace but am still a bit surprised that the controller didn't notice where they were earlier in the approach, and realize that they weren't even close to being where they'd need to be for a proper approach to 28L or 28R...  Definitely not saying it's the controller's fault by any means, just interesting / thinking out loud.  Glad it didn't turn into something far more serious.

Subject aircraft incoming on a dogleg entry towards coliseum for right hand traffic 28 right.

Radio recording makes clear instructor and student not familiar with area.

Close in to airport they are asked to extend but turn left end up flying away from 28 right numbers almost reaching zoo.

Left turn back to airport they roll out lined up on taxiway bravo that has green centerline lighting beginning at taxiway bravo one.

They overfly the numbers of 28 right and 28 left and land on taxiway bravo near bravo three intersection.

Conditions were clear calm night crossing other student activity departing the area.
