Meanwhile at Eastern WV Regional Airport/Shepherd Field (KMRB), Martinsburg WV....

Friday 12/19/25 Approx 20:30Z (3:30pm local), a glider (tail ?N9UY also referred to as N9U4Y?) calls into MRB Tower (@ 12miles) and makes emergency landing on Rwy 26 approx 20:43Z.  One person on board, emergency vehicles standing by.  Apparently came off runway into the grass, no report on Ground frequency of any injury or damage and emergency crew assisted walking the glider back to the ramp.

A TBM-850 c/s N850BD was also on approach, did an orbit and able to land Rwy 26 approx 20:52Z after runway inspection.

Attached combo MRB Tower, Ground, Potomac Approach (LUCKE); edited for time and content, not realtime (audio quality a bit funky, the MRB clips come up short of 30min).

(How did I find this - I was trying to find out the reason for another DC air defense scramble around 20:50Z which shut down departures out of BWI and DCA for half an hour for fighters and USCG, and happened to find this event on LUCKE.  The scramble was in the area of Gaithersburg with fighters reported by BWI Tower 15 miles west of the Airport and some arrivals into IAD vectored clear of that area (see UAL109).  USCG Blackjack chopper performed orbits between Rockville and Laurel around 1800ft.  So far I've not been able to find any potential target on ADSB tracking apps and no communications on usual available Potomac approach frequencies calling unresponsive aircraft in the area.  This general area would be about 30 miles East of Martinsburg.  I don't know if the timing and range lines up for this glider to trigger a scramble, or if this is just a coincidence).
