Condensed audio for flight ET702 from Addis Ababa, destined for Rome. It includes radar, arrival and departure, as well as tower frequencies.

The first-officer hijacked the Boeing 767 and diverted to Geneva, Switzerland in order to seek asylum.

At 3:10 you can hear the pilot mention what seems to be an "engine flame-out".

Congratulations to GVA ATC for the positive outcome of this potentially deadly situation, a job well done, Sir!

Yeah, the controller deserves an award for this one!  The co-pilot was still holding with just less than 20 minutes of fuel remaining and refusing to start the approach until he was granted asylum.  The controller, probably sensing that asylum was not going to be forthcoming any time soon, wisely coaxed him onto the ILS before he ran out of fuel.

Kudos to the tower controller for handling the first officer so well! He deserves a reward for saving everyone on board!

Here is an article from Swiss Info: http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/swiss_news/Ethiopian_hijacker_likely_to_face_prison.html?cid=37983408

There is also an article link at the bottom of that article about the work hours of the Swiss Air Force, since they were off-duty at the time of the hijacking.

Well done to all involved, particularly the ATC and the other pilot for keeping it so calm.
