Meanwhile at DCA... 2/28/25 Friday evening arrivals heavily disrupted from 21:37Z - 22:25Z by a rolling/"late" VIP movement window.
Things start going sideways around 21:37Z with initial approach/landing clearances canceled for JBU224, JIA5288 and JIA5388, but after a short delay back on Final they were able to get into DCA after the VIP movement shifted. JIA5388 switches to Departure 118.95 to start diversion to IAD but was able to get back into the sequence for DCA.
DAL1454 was not so lucky, after getting onto final approach with DCA Tower at around 21:50Z that was canceled and they ended up holding before finally diverting to IAD at 22:14Z.
AAL1609 had its approach clearance canceled but just diverted to IAD right away at 21:52Z.
JIA5400 diverted at 22:09Z but their alternate was Charlottesville for some reason.
JIA5424 brought the fuel and banter, and was finally rewarded with a landing clearance to DCA shortly after Marine One switched to ADW at 22:24Z.
This mainly affected arrivals; Departures were continuing, presumably because they be stopped more easily when the Tower gets final notification of the movement timing.
Attached is heavily edited for content and time; mainly this is DCA Final 124.7 with some snippets from DCA Tower 119.1, Departure 118.95 and Heli from combined Tower/Approach/Heli feed. The main Heli feed was down unfortunately so there is no audio of any coordination between Marine One and Tower.
