Piper Cherokee c/s N9965W departs Frederick Municipal Airport ~20:12Z headed to Montgomery Country Airpark in Gaithersburg MD, entering the Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) squawking VFR and not in communication with Potomac Approach [N9965W had approval from KFDK tower for frequency change at 20:16Z but unclear from the KFDK feed which frequency was communicated].
Attempts by Potomac (BWI Final & BELAY) to contact N9965W start at 20:19Z including relay of comms via another plane in the area, N369PP, on both Potomac (BELAY 125.525) and Gaithersburg CTAF (KGAI 123.075). N9965W joined CTAF at 20:24Z, N369PP went back to CTAF and was able to relay the frequency; N9965W made contact with Potomac 125.525 at 20:27Z, notified of possible pilot deviation and given number to call, then returned to CTAF to land at Gaithersburg.
Meanwhile, USCG MH-65 c/s Blackjack-1 scrambled from DCA at 20:26Z, departing to the West and North up to 3k ft; breaking off around Bethesda around 20:31Z, circling the area until being stood down at 20:32Z and returning to DCA via Chain Bridge route at 20:40Z.
Approach relatively quiet - AS4 and AAL3014 on final Approach to DCA had approach clearances cancelled round 20:27Z with brief delay vectors before being cleared back for approach around 20:32Z. JIA5627 and AAL2497 further out were delayed. Departures were also halted during the scramble based on flight tracking but full Tower audio not available.
Multiple users on Reddit reported a low level jet in the area of Rockville/Olney from 20:20-20:30Z ("Flew past at least twice in the Aspen Hill area") - though I could not find any radar track or ATC comms related to this, but given timing and location this was presumably part of the response to the SFRA violation.
