Last "Cactus" flight arrives KPHL
« on: April 08, 2015, 05:35:59 PM »
The last flight to officially carry the "Cactus" callsign landed at KPHL at 11:15am today.  There was surprisingly little note of the fact except for the ramp controller who thought it should be American 774.  The flight, a Boeing 757-200 was a direct flight from London-Heathrow to Philadelphia.  All US Airways flights will now use the "American" callsign under a new single operating certificate which was formally issued today.

The Cactus stumbles have been all day long, but a Philly departure a couple minutes ago takes the cake: "Cactus, err... America West... err American. And I was practicing all night, too."

Yeah, it'll take some getting used to especially at airports like Philly where US Airways is the major airline and there are still a lot of aircraft in US Airways livery.
