Hello everyone!
I'm gonna follow all the movements the TF-AAK B747 does on the Iron Maiden World Tour.
Here's the first stop, Fort Lauderdale. Doubts about the callsign. Pilots said "Atlanta 666", controllers said "Iron Maiden 666".
If some of you also work this aircraft, post your audios here so we can have everything in order! :wink: :wink:

CWL to FLL. The file below has New York Center on 128.50 (Bermuda area) asking them to say hi to Bruce, then about half way between Bermuda and Florida New York ARINC selcals them on HF 8918 to specifically ask if this is Ed Force One.

CWL to FLL. The file below has New York Center on 128.50 (Bermuda area) asking them to say hi to Bruce, then about half way between Bermuda and Florida New York ARINC selcals them on HF 8918 to specifically ask if this is Ed Force One.
One thing to note about this.
On Iron Maiden's last tour, especially when Bruce was flying for Astraeus, Ed Force One was a B757....
Now, if you look at the FlightAware track above, you'll notice that ABD666 is a B744.
In short, Eddie grew up, and now has enough room to fit Vic Rattlehead (Megadeth) and the Not Man (Anthrax) on board easily. ;)
And definitely check out the new livery. Nice.

Try listening to the clip now. I did my best to eliminate the background noise and amplify the audio where I could.

Doubts about the callsign. Pilots said "Atlanta 666", controllers said "Iron Maiden 666".
Fun fact: pilots may not change their callsign, however, controllers have the right to (temporarily) change an aircraft's callsign while its on their frequency (e.g. to avoid confusion, when callsigns sound too similar). Obviously the controller thought a change was absolutely necessary here. ;-)

If you're using audacity to do audio editing if you change the speed of a selection of the audio and then go back and change the pitch. It makes it a little easier to pick out some of what people are saying sometimes. Other times it's just take your best guess though.

For me, ARINC Center makes no sense. ARINC is a way of communication, no an ATC dependency.
I think he says New York Center, actually he says "Nwya Center". Makes more sense to me :wink:
EDIT: And the ATC also says BALTN, fix of their route that day near Bermuda... not Boston, obviously

N: uh just checking .. I uh saw the callsign I knew uh I thought it might be

N: HBD666 is this Bruce flying (note he says HBD instread of the correct ABD)
A: Ah no this is Bruce F (unreadable) ah (unreadable) the other Bruce
N: Okay thanks alot
From another transmission when they first checked in on HF the radio operator incorrectly readback the identifier as HBD instead of ABD. It sounded to me like the pilot talking was also named Bruce (last name started with and F).

Note the minute 2:22 when the Tower lady says "ABD triple 6 HEAVYYYYY" :-D :-D :-D

Why don't the Airports have the departure times for abd666? makes it harder to track them on flightradar without knowing when the depart

how can i monitor flight 666? the audio from plane to towers? on line?

get the app ATC live its $3.99 in app store, but gotta make sure u know where they r leaving and landing. and well you'll learn how to navigate the app once u download it..
Not sure how the recording is done, actually I haven't been tried to play a recording on here, they say listen but mmm well another think i haven't figured out yet,, I'm new to it, but was fun hearing Bruce talk to vegas tower yesterday!

Pretty rare and funny when MTY Tower seems to put some music on the radio for the Irons!! :-D :-D
I needed more than 10 passes to discover that song that Tower puts on the radio is Wasted Years!! :-o :-o

Just spotted on Twitter that plane has been badly damaged in collision with s tug.

Santiago feed has many frequencies so I don't think anything can be heard about the tug crash... :|

Unfortunately, I was not able to follow their trip.
It got damaged at Chile, then flew to Brasilia (no feeds available) then Sao Paulo (no feeds) and New York - Kennedy!!
So here it is arriving at JFK! :-)
