well i've read quite a few articles about that being proposed (all ATC facilities) being privitized, and i personally didn't think it would be feasible, but like i said i know there's been a debate over it for a while now. Just looking to see if anyone's heard anything about it.
After reading many articles in AOPA's magazine,
IFR, Avweb's bi-weekly email newsletter, and others over this past year, it seems to me that ATC will remain a US-government function that is funded by a "pay per use" fee schedule, rather than the current funding model of aviation fuel taxes and supplemented by the general tax coiffeurs.
There does not seem to be serious discussion these days of a complete privatization, except that which is already happening to flight service.
