Title: Information on Vancouver plane incident
Post by: jabrrr on July 10, 2009, 02:04:56 AM
Hi, I am reporter with Canwest News Service, my name is Jorge Barrera, and I am wondering if anyone has any recordings that corresponds with a reported crash in Richmond, B.C., of a private airplane that appears to have been on approach to the the Vancouver International Airport.

Thanks,

Jorge Barrera

Attached is the audio clip - most of the action is 5:00-10:00 minutes into the recording.  The recording starts around 9:55PM Vancouver time.

From an ATC recording standpoint, It's similar to the Buffalo Dash-8 crash in that everything is routine until the airplane on final approach disappears from radar, and another plane observes a fire on the ground at the time of impact.

No indication on the tape as to why.

As reported this morning, one factor being looked at is wake turbulence, since the Navajo was in trail of an Airbus 321.
