Recorded in October 2001, an Ilyushin IL-86 registered RA-86115 of AJT International conducts a low overshoot approach to RWY 34 at Melbourne so the tower can verify the position of the landing gear. IIRC the aircraft involved may have struck an obstacle on departure from it's last port of call, hence the reason for a visual inspection. The flight number/callsign is TRJ 9801, some transmissions are one sided due to my distance from the airport. The aircraft eventually lands without incident but is subsequently grounded by CASA officials for around one month due to poor airworthiness.
