Listened to the Syracuse feed this morning during the big lake snow blast, great sounding feed you have there.
Thanks. However, I still have a background hum in the feed that I cannot seem to eliminate. As of now the hum is a good indication of whether my streaming audio player dropped the connection or not.
Was that Bonanza able to get out?
Yep, I took off around 9:15a local time, just before the lake effect band of snow moved south over the airport. Winds were a-howling, both at SYR and upon landing at BUF with gusts up to 39kts. Not one of my best landings at BUF as I slammed it on the runway like an F-14 dropping onto a carrier deck right in front of a waiting Southwest B737. No bent metal, though, and in reality, one would prefer to get down very quickly rather than float above the runway allowing those winds to play around with the aircraft like a cat does with a mouse, or so I tell myself.
Oh, and I did finally get a chance to compliment Buffalo Approach over the air for their fine service. I need to check your archives to make sure it came out like I had hoped.
EDIT: Never mind. Archives are not available for that time frame. Drat.
Hey, Dan, off topic from this thread, but since I have you here: I just learned that your Caravan icing clip from last year apparently has been picked up by the FAA and is being circulated around some aviation safety seminar circles.
I also hang out on the rec.aviation.piloting newsgroup and a regular there stated he received the clip from an FAA contact so he posted your clip to his website of aviation audio and video clips. I asked him if he could at least credit LiveATC on his site since it was their archives and your work that resulted in the clip. He said he would do so but as of 2:30p eastern time today, he hasn't done so:
