I understand the bad weather conditions, but why would being hit by lightning ruffle the pilots so much? I thought it wasn't a big deal on modern aircraft.
The ASA pictures are not from a lighting strike. That was a wild rumor bouncing around the internet for awhile. It was from an electrical fire that occured when ground power was applied. the pilots train for it, I still held my breath when the lights flashed out and listened for the engines to be running.
