Help finding a clip
« on: March 23, 2016, 04:44:07 AM »
Tonight on United flight 774 from O'Hare to LAX, we had a very scarry touch & go landing. Literally landed sideways and the pilot just put the engines full force & back straight up we went. (Clearly I'm not an airline/aviation buff and don't know the terms). I would like to hear the tower calls on that botched/scarry landing. It was on 3/22/16 around 11:20pm. Can anyone link me to the archive where I can hear it? Thanks!

I've found the initial landing clearance from the tower so I'll get that up in a sec.  There was also some "interesting audio" before your arrival that'll be on before your planes audio.

OK I edited in the tower before your flights arrival and ended it after they told approach what the reason for the go around was.  I don't know if the tower controller was at the end of his shift and/or just having a bad night but he was anything but professional or polite in my opinion.  Hopefully it was just a bad day though.  If anyone wants to hear an approach controller on his game and doing an amazing job look up the feed for KLAX Final Approach feed from this night.  It was on the 23rd from 0600-0630 zulu and start listening in at about the 25 minute mark when United 774 checks in.

Hey! Thanks so much. He said less than 100 feet, we hit one wheel for sure and back up. Did the air New Zealand say they had 20 seconds of fuel while they were waiting to land???

No, they needed to burn off some fuel to get their weight down before takeoff so they were waiting there while that happened.  That flight goes from KLAX to NZAA (Auckland, New Zealand) on Boeing 777's.  My guess is they're always a little heavy on fuel when they leave the gate and then burn down that extra fuel weight on the way to the runway before takeoff.  This time they just needed a few extra seconds to accomplish the fuel burn off.

What weight of fuel would be burnt off in 20 seconds?

This is ridiculous... 20 seconds burn can be spend while you taxi to line up on runway. Don't understand that much :|
