Your welcome. Sorry about the audio format - couldn't convert to MP3 w/o errors...my last posting from HPN...transferring to IAH in 5 weeks.

Good for them, great job pilot. Any specifics on the effects of this? Did they clear it yet? Is 16/34 open yet? Were they able to keep 11/29 open?

Airport was only closed for about 45 minutes or so according to the ATCSCC's OIS.  I went flying around 2:30pm and both runways were open.  However, the local controllers wouldn't pay any attention to anything smaller than a Cessna Caravan so I ended up logging .6 on the ground in a G1000-equiped C172.  Ca-ching.

Damn, sorry to hear that.  Well if you're in the area over the next few weeks, we should meet up somewhere just to say hello.  I fly out of Panorama.

Tough day for the La Guardia sector guys, on top of that they had an inbound jetliner to LGA with fire on board, diverted to Kennedy, it was a tense few minutes in the TRACON...really cool getting to watch the best of the best do what they do

So that's what that was! We saw the red 7700 squawk light up on our maintenance radar monitor and were concerned about the speed at such a low altitude. The guy was hauling butt at 3000 feet - now we know why :-o

It is amazing how calm people can stay in situation like this. Both controllers and pilots were very professional.
